In collaboration with the production team, the Designer/Industrial Drafter will develop and manage a team of junior draftspeople, meeting goals with an excellent knowledge of AutoDesk Suite products and software systems (AutoCad 2D and Inventor) and a solid understanding of SH's manufacturing processes, including knowledge of CNC machining, and a good working knowledge of wood / melamine.

The Designer/Industrial Drafter prepares, trains and assists their team in preparing models and technical drawings for the design and manufacture of cabinets.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train and supervise a junior technical drafting team

  • Supervise, develop and prepare manufacturing drawings based on the Designer's 3D rendering concepts, specifications and other data

  • Supervise and prepare assembly instructions and layout drawings

  • Oversee and prepare material requirements for purchasing using Microsoft Excel

  • Work in conjunction with the Senior Project Manager and Production Department with documentation/engineering and product issues in the factory

  • Have strong team-oriented skills with the ability to also work independently and meet deadlines

SKILLS

  • Excellent CAD skills (Inventor/AutoDesk Suite)

  • Knowledge of carpentry (metal an asset)

  • Speaks English (French an asset)

  • Leadership

  • Time management skills

  • Ingenuity and attention to detail

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

 

EDUCATION

  • Certificate, diploma, CEGEP or University in industrial design or drawing program; or equivalent experience.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years minimum work experience in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment. Experience as a supervisor an asset.

  • Flexible Schedule (possibility of 4 days per week)
